Ametek Surface Vision / COGNEX Feb 2015 -
My core product strategy has been to spawn new interoperable products based on two key machine vision architectures. Targeted at specific applications, these turn-key products provide sales clear and simple messaging, and dramatically reduce installation, service, and startup costs.
I've introduced discipline by requiring design reviews, creating a much needed phase-gate NPI process, and mandating design improvements to manufacturability and servicability. This, along clear installation and user documentation, dramatically decreases costs to us and our partners, allows integration to be outsourced, and sets the stage to expand sales channel revenue.
The growing focused roadmap increases profitability in traditional verticals, and further increases revenue by adding adjascent and additional unserved verticals.
ADLINK Jan 2009 - Dec 2014
I developed products which compete with much bigger players like GE, in demanding applications including military and commercial aircraft, medical devices,
The high levels of certification required in many customer applications require product planning years in advance. I managed products from cradle-to-grave, to fulfill customer requirements for long-range visibility to product roadmaps, and make product evolution and migration both profitable, and cost-effective for the customer.
I defined feature sets, determined minimum viable product (MVP) for new development, and estimated TTR and TTP.
I directed product development, developed go-to-market strategies, trained sales, maintained price lists and sales funnels, and developed customer relationships.
ADLINK Aug 2008 - Jan 2009
Manage Rugged System Development (mechanical, electrical, thermal) and industrial assemblies. Manage engineers, local & international consultants and contract manufacturers

Design, produce, and deploy electro-mechanical automation systems for warehouse logistics
Acqis Technology - 2000 - 2001
Direct product production in start-up. Rapid prototyping. Managed contract manufacturers. Maintained the company’s IT infrastructure.
Senior Consulting Applications Engineer
COGNEX - 1991 - 2000
Analyzed customer products (continuous materials; sheet steel, aluminum, glass, paper, etc.) and developed methods for detection and analysis of defects in these materials using machine vision.
Specified optical geometries for specular (brightfield) non-specular (darkfield) imaging of target materials.
Developed high brightness, highly structured, homogenous illumination sources enabling detection of minute localized material deviations, in high vibration environments. Successfully won multi-million dollar projects by finding optical solutions which eluded competitors. Conceived and developed algorithms, and optical, and mechanical solutions to increase capabilities and expand Cognex systems into new markets.
